Adoption
Adopting a baby is a great way to bring a child into your life whether you cannot have children on your own or if you want to give a parentless child a chance at having a family. Check the Internet or the yellow pages for local adoption sites. Getting a baby may take a little time because before you can get a baby the agency is going to do an extensive background check to make sure you are fit to be a parent and can provide the best home for the child.
You can have open or closed adoption. With open adoption you will be able to know who the parents are and in some cases be able to contact them if necessary. This can be good if your child would eventually like to know who their original parents are. With closed adoption the birth parents and adoption parents will not have any identifiable information about each other but health and other background information may be given about the child.
Perhaps you don't want to adopt a child, but you want to give up a child for adoption. Rest assured that most children will receive great parents. Adoption agencies will do background checks on all parents who wish to adopt a child. This is a courageous move on your part if you cannot provide a good home for your child. It can be very hard to give up a child after giving birth, but many mothers feel better about giving away their child than if they had an abortion.
