Baby
Formula
Breastfeeding is best for your baby, but not all moms can. If you work and cannot breastfeed at every meal or for health reasons cannot breastfeed the best solution to this problem is baby formula. Baby formula comes with many of the same nutrients found in breast milk and will help your baby grow up healthy and strong.
Basically all formulas meet the FDA requirements for nutritional value. Baby formula from overseas may not meet the same requirements since every country has different methods for determining these results. Ask your doctor or other parents which formulas they recommend and trust their opinions. You can get milk based baby formula or soy based baby formula. Either is fine, although some babies may have an allergy to lactose or the proteins in the milk based baby formulas.
Some babies may have intolerance to some baby
formulas. If your baby is fussy a lot, vomits or has diarrhea,
and is not gaining weight you may want to switch to a different
formula. Stay away from baby formulas that are low in iron
as this is an important nutrient for your newborn baby. Baby
formulas with lowered amounts of iron can result in iron deficiency
anemia in your baby.
